ECHO - The Echo Cougars defeated the Arlington Honkers in a Big Sky 1A-East game on Inauguration Day, Tuesday, Janurary 20, 2009. Echo started of fast and never looked back as they won 73 to 24. Six Cougars were in double figures with Bradon Williams leading everyone with 13 points.
Jorge Munoz got things started with the first score in the opening period. Andy McFarlane and Williams hit the the next two shots. Then McFarlane and Munoz each had a steal and layup within 20 seconds to take the Cougars to a 10 to 1 lead. The Cougars settled into a pace of outscoring the Honkers about 3 to 1. At the end of the first Echo led 21-7.
The Cougars continued to dominate the boards in the secon period. Cougars scoring in the second included Ryan Ramos, Bryan Ibarra, Micah Danner, Glenn Swanger, Munoz, and McFarlane. The Honkers were stuck at 10 points for about five minutes during the period. Echo led at halftime 38-12.
The Cougars came out stronger in the third period scoring 14 points in the first four minutes. The go to players in the first half continued their smoking hot shooting in the second half. Cougars scoring included Ray Harris, Jacob Eby, Danner, Munoz, Williams, and Ramos. Echo led at the end of the third 63-17.
Echo rotated more players and continued to completely control all aspects of the game, except for three point shots. The Cougars attempted to set up plays and control the clock in the fourth period. The Cougars won with a score of 73-24.
Every Cougar scored in the game. Braden Williams had 13, Jorge Munoz 11, Glenn Swanger 11, Jeremy Cisneros 11, Andy McFarlane 10, Micah Danner 10, Brian Ibarra 3, Jacob Eby 2, and Ray Harris 2. The only stat that Arlington bested Echo was in three point shots. Echo was 0 for 1 and Arlington was 2 for 3.
