HERMISTON - The Hermiston Bulldogs defeated the Mountain View Cougars 65 to 53 on Friday, February 6, 2009. Hermiston led throughout the game. Hermiston led by 17 at the end of the third period.
Hermiston started off the first period strongly taking a 6 to 0 lead in the first minute and a half. Ricardo Rodriguez hit two three pointers that got the crowd up and cheering at the very start of the game. Luis Ortiz hit on a drive, a jumper and from the freethrow line. Hermiston settled to their strong uptempo game with Cody Humphrey helping in the middle on defense.
In the second period the Bulldogs controlled the game taking a 15 point lead. Jonathan Kayembe and Cody Meeks came on strong in the second adding to the fire power of Humphrey. Hermiston went into halftime with a 31 to 16 lead.
Scoring for Bulldogs during the third period was the same with the Dawgs scoring 13 points. Bradley Irwin hit a three pointer and hit two freethrows. Humphrey and Ortiz kept the streak going. Hermiston led 44 to 27 at the end of the third.
Hermiston continued the domination even though Mountain View outscored them 26 to 21. Dawg scorers in the fourth included Alex Boedigheimer, Kayembe, Irwin, Rodriguez, and Meeks.
This was one of Hermiston's smoother home games this season.
