Stanfield Beats Irrigon

Stanfield won 5-0

STANFIELD - The Stanfield Tigers defeated the Irrigon Knights 5-0 on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The single afternoon game started under bright sun and a temperature of about 70 degrees. The game ended under cloudy skies and a dropping temperature. The winning pitcher was Mario Madrigal of Stanfield who pitched a complete game striking out 10 and going 1 for 2 with one RBI. One of Stanfield's other starters, Quin Grogan, took the catcher's position.

Both teams put runners on base early in the game but it wasn't until the bottom of the fourth that Stanfield was finally able to score. Tyler Hawkins drove in Derek Monkus on a grounder to secondbase giving the Tigers the 1-0 lead.

The bottom of the fourth had Stanfield scoring three runs. The first run came on a big hit by Quin Grogan that brought in Devin Bailey. Just moments later Shawn Milbrodt hit a shot to deep center field brining in Grogan and Jack Taylor giving Stanfield the 4-0 lead.

Stanfield's last score was in the bottom of the sixth when Mario Madrigal scored from third on a pass ball. Stanfield won 5-0.
