HERMISTON - The Columbia Blue 9/10 Little League softball team defeated Redmond 5-3 on Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
Redmond was the first to score in the top of the second inning when two runners scored from third by stealing home on a pass ball. Redmond led by a score of 2-0.
Columbia Blue started off the bottom of the second with Sadie Hasbell hitting to centerfield. Then one of the Velasco sisters hit to center to drive in Hasbell. Skyler Wightman then hit down the firstbase line putting two runners on base. Then Lacey Mashos hit to leftfield driving in Velasco and Wightman and giving Columbia Blue the 3-1 lead. LIlian Melendez then grounded out allowing Mashos to score from third and giving Columbia Blue the 4-1 lead.
The scoring opportunity occured in the bottom of the fourth when Columbia Blue had the bases loaded and Mathilda Camp was hit by a pitch driving in a run. That was the last score of the game with Columbia Blue winning 5-3.
