Knox, the team made of Shoni Schimmel, her sister Jude and cousin Samantha McCloud played
Girls Who Play Basketball from Umatilla for the championship in the 11th/12th grade
3 on 3 Tounament championship. Knox won 20-8 to take the championship. Schimmel's
grand and great grandmother were there to cheer team onto to victory.
Shoni Schimmel is one of the top rated basketball players in the nation. ESPN RISE ranks her
as number 10 in the nation and the third best point guard. It's that kind of national
recognition that has led to Shoni and Jude being invited by Adidas to join a group of
players on a tour of Japan.
The Schimmel sisters will leave for Los Angeles in early August to work with NCAA and WNBA
star Candace Parker.
"We will be in LA for four days." said Shoni. "It's a Candace Parker tournament. We will go
to a sports camp and then to Disneyland. We will do other things over the four days. Then we
will go to Japan for fifteen days. We will be there until August 19th. It's the top ten Adidas
girls from the United States playing on the team. It should be fun."
