Kim Campos, a member of the 2009 Irrigon Knights state championship softball team and
graduated senior, connects on pitch during the game between Jakard Plus and Umatilla
Seft Storage on Saturday afternoon. The two teams were filled with Knights players including
Jessica Henrichs, Kim Campos, Leslie Coffman, Noelle Wright, and Staci Stanger. Umatilla Self
Storage won 12-11 in the eighth inning.

IRRIGON -
The Irrigon Watermelon Festival took place on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Activities included
a softball tournament. One of the afternoon took place between Jakard Plus and Umatilla
Self Storage. Both coed teams were stocked with players from the 2009 Irrigon state
champion softball team. Noelle Wright, Staci Stanger, Jessica Henrichs, Leslie Coffman,
and Kim Campos were some of the Irrigon players on either team.
It was a hot, muggy day and the players had to keep hydrated. Even the little kids knew
the importance of drinking water or sports drink.
With the score tied at 11 at the end of seven inning the game moved to extra innings. Umatilla
was able to get a runner on base in their half of the inning. A long shot to centerfield
scored the runner from second for Umatilla. That gave Umatilla Self Storage the 12-11 win.
Jakard Plus wore grey and Umatilla Self Storage wore white. Pitchers rotated in and out
it seemed like everyone was able to connect with the ball at some point during the game.
