South Wasco Lady Redsides Defeat Echo Cougars

South Wasco won 43-33

ECHO - The South Wasco Lady Redsides defeated the Echo Lady Cougars 43-33 on Saturday, January 9, 2010.

Echo scored first on a shot by Shilah Hilliard. The teams were tied 4-4 on a shot by Ryanne Tarvin. Echo then went nearly four minutes without scoring. During the Cougar cool period South Wasco scored 9 points. The Redsides led 13-7 at the end of the first period.

South Wasco took a 20-12 lead at halftime. Scoring for Echo were Elizabeth Ferge, Kristen McCullum and Hilliard.

The Redsides outscored Echo 10-4 in the third period. Echo's Taylor Tarvin stole a pass and scored on a layup. South Wasco led 30-16 at the end of the third.

Echo outscored South Wasco 17-13 during the fourth period closing the gap to 10 points by the end of the game. Echo's Kristen McCallum hit three shot in a row to open the fourth. Elizabeth Ferge of the Cougars hit a trey. Shilah Hilliard hit several shots for the Cougars. South Wasco won the game 43-33.

Leading scorers for the Cougars included Shilah Hilliard with 9, Elizabeth Ferge and Kristen McCallum with 8 and Ryanne Tarvin and Taylor Tarvin each with 4. Top scorers for the Redsides were Portia Anderson with 14, Carly O'Neal with 12, and Cassie Killam with 8. The Redsides shot 32.6% and Echo shot 28.6%. South Wasco freethrows were 12/19 and Echo 4/14.
