HERMISTON - The Hermiston Bulldogs defeated The Dalles Wahtonka Eagle Indians 74-37 on Friday, January 15, 2010. The Bulldogs came into the game with a 7-2 overall record. The Eagle Indians had a 7-6 record. The Bulldogs took the lead about two minutes into the first period and never lost it.
The Eagle Indians scored first on a freethrow by Sydney Hege at 7:29 of the first. Nikki McCall scored next to give TDW the 3-0 lead. Kathryn Barnitz scored first for the Dawgs hitting two freethrows at 6:38. Barnitz also hit a trey later in the period. Jade Crossley and Maloree Moss also hit treys for the Dawgs. Hermiston led at the end of the first 17-10.
The Dawgs held TDW to just two points through the first five minutes of the second period. Hermiston started off the second period smoking with a trey followed by four points by Crystal Schmidt then a trey by Hope Butler. Also contributing in the second were Cllahan Crossley, Kelli Jones, Courtney Walchli, Kathryn Barnitz and Andrea Waters. Hermistonj led at halftime 37-27.
Hermiston outscored TDW 21-8 in the third period. Scoring in the third for Dawgs included Kathryn Barnitz, Maloree Moss, Crystal Schmidt, Andrea Waters and Jade Crossley. The Bulldogs went to the freethrow line five times hitting 8 of 9 attempts. Hermiston led 58-33 at the end of the third.
Hermiston continued the domination in the fourth period holding TDW to only 4 points and continued to hit their shots. Ultimately Hermiston doubled the score 74-37 to take their record to 8-2.
