PENDLETON - The Nixyaawii Golden Eagles defeated the Echo Cougars 69-59 on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Pendleton. The Golden Eagles out shot the Cougars 50% to 35.3%. The high scorer overall was Shawn Simpson of Nixyaawii with 24 points. Other Nixyaawii scorers were Anthony Bonifer with 15, Joe Crawford with 11, and Isaiah Case with 9.

Jacob Eby was Echo's high scorer with 20 followed by Logan Thorne and Bryan Ibarra each with 10. Echo was 6/15 from the three point arc for 40% shooting and 18 of their 59 points. Nixyaawii was 3 for 9 in three pointers.

The first period was close scoring with Nixyaawii leading 15-14 at the end of the period. The second period was also closely played with the Golden Eagles leading 35-31 at halftime. Nixyaawii outscored Echo 24-16 in the third to take a 12 point lead 59-47 at the end of the third. Echo outscored Nixyaawii 12-10 in the fourth but that wasn't enough to close the gap and the Golden Eagles won 69-59.
