PENDLETON - The Nixyaawii Lady Golden Eagles defeated the Echo Cougars 55-35 on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Echo out shot Nixyaawii 41.7% to 41.3%. However, the Golden Eagles hit 100% of their three pointers going 3 for 3 spread across Chelsey Minthorn, Suzzette White Owl and Tramaine Moses. Echo had a trey by Sara Reese.

Nixyaawii hit 63.6% of their freethrows compared to Echo's 44.4%. Part of the reason for Nixyaawii's freethrow performance was Chelsey Minthorn going 10 for 10 at the line. Minthorn was the high scorer overall with 21 points. Other scorers for Nixyaawii were Suzzette White Owl with 12, Miriah Withers with 9, Kanisha Perry with 5, Tramaine Moses with 3, Liz Wilson and Leona Beniost each with 2.

Kristen McCallum and Shilah Hilliard were the top scorers for Echo each with 9 points. Other Cougar scorers included Sara Reese with 7, Elizabeth Ferge with 6. Hilliard also went 3 for 3 at the freethrow line.

Nixyaawii led at the end of each period. The Golden Eagles led at the end of the first 13-9. Nixyaawii pulled away to an eight point lead during the second period taking a 27-19 lead at halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored Echo 17-11 in the third to take a 44-30 lead at the end of the third. Both teams output went down in the fourth. Echo could only muster five points in the fourth and Nixyaawii scored 11. It was a strong 55-25 win for the Golden Eagles.
