HERMISTON - The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs defeated the Crook County Cowgirls 63-36 on Friday, January 22, 2010. Crook County took the early lead in the first period but once Hermiston took the lead half way through the first the Bulldogs never looked back. The 8-2 overall Bulldogs showed off their dominating style of play in the game.

Crook County came out fast in the first period taking a 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of play. The way Hermiston came back to take the lead was an example of how they have the firepower throughout the lineup and any Dawg can score when needed. Hermiston clawed back into the game on shots by Crystal Schmidt and Maloree Moss. Moments later Hermiston took the lead on a shot by Courtney Walchli. Kathryn then stole the ball and went the length of the court for a layup. The Dawgs closed out the first with freethrows by Mary Barnett and Hope Butler. Hermiston led 16-9 at the end of the first.

Hermiston outscored Crook County 17-3 in the second period to take a dominating 33-12 halftime lead. Dawgs scoring in the second included Crystal Schmidt, Andrea Waters, Courtney Walchli, Maloree Moss, Kathryn Barnitz, Brooke Davis, Kayla Blankenship and Hope Butler. Schmidt and Barnitz had back to back steals and layups midway through the period.

Crook County picked up the pace scoring 13 points in the third. Hermiston cruised along scoring 14 points to maintain a 47-25 dominating lead at the end of the third period.

Hermiston outscored Crook County 16-11 in the fourth. Hermiston once again spread the scoring around with Gracie Flyg, Kelli Jones, Blankenship, Barnett, Barnitz, and Walchli. The Bulldogs won the game 63-36.
