ECHO - The Echo Cougars defeated the Helix Grizzlies 64-21 in a game totally dominated by the Cougars. Echo scored the first 27 unanswered points keeping Helix scoreless until 6:44 of the second period. Echo shot 45.5% from the field and Helix only hit 20.6%. Echo hit 6/10 treys for 60%. The leading scorers for Echo were Jacob Ely with 19, Weston Longhorn with 9, Jeremy Cisneros with 8, Jorge Munoz with 6 and Glen Swanger with 5.
Echo scored 24 points in the first period. Jorege Munoz scored first on a steal and layup. Next up Weston Longhorn hit two freethrows and a layup. Then Jacob Eby went on a roll hitting a jumper, and three treys in row then another jumper for 13 points in the first. Closing out scoring in the first was Bryan Ibarra to give Echo the 24-0 lead.
Braden Williams started off the second for Echo with a trey. Helix finally got on the board when Brenden Decicio hit his shot. Scoring picked up for Helix in the second with the Grizzlies scoring 9 and Echo scoring 10. Also scoring for Echo were Cisneros and Esau Ibarra. Echo led at halftime 34-9.
Helix hit a cold run again in the third with the only score coming on two freethrows by Michael Sherman. Echo scored 18 points by Munoz, Eby, Swanger, Longhorn and Cisneros. Echo led at the end of the third 52-11.
Helix came alive again in the fourth scoring 10 points. Echo outscored Helix 12-10. Among the Grizzlies scoring in the fourth were Tylor Bushman and Zach Sandin. Echo scorers included Logan Thorne, Braden Williams, Drew Keifer, Swanger, and Harris. Echo cruised to the 64-21 win.
