ECHO - The Nixyaawii Lady Golden Eagles defeated the Echo Cougars 77-55 on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The Eagles played a fast paced, up tempo, physical game that challenged the Cougars every minute of the game. Nixyaawii hit 27 of 54 for a 50%. Echo was 20 for 62 for a 32.3 shooting percentage. Echo hit 33% of three pointers. Nixyaawii was only 1 of 8 for 12.5% from the three point arc. The Golden Eagles hit 22 of 35 for 62.9% of their freethrows. Echo hit 11 of 20 freethrows for 55%.

The game started of closely for the first two minutes of play with the score 5-2. The Golden Eagles held Echo to just two points until the 3:20 point of the first when Taylor Tarvin hit a trey. Nixyaawii led at that point 11-2. The Golden Eagles had scoring from Kanisha Perry, Miriah Withers, C Miller, Suzzette White Owl and Leona Benoist. Scoring for the Cougars came from Kristen McCallum, Taylor Tarvin and Elizabeth Ferge. Nixyaawii led at the end of the first 20-8.

Both teams scored 21 points in the second period. The Golden Eagles maintained their 12 point lead. Nixyaawii had scoring by Chelsey Minthorn, Withers and Perry. Scoring for the Cougars in the second were Ryanne Tarvin, Taylor Tarvin, McCallum and Ferge. Ferge scored seven in the period. Nixyaawii led at halftime 41-29. The only downside to the Nixyaawii play in the second was a technical foul called on the coach.

Nixyaawii outscored Echo 17-11 in the third. Echo was held scoreless in the third until Ferge scored on a short shot at 4:43. Seconds later at 4:30 the Nixyaawii coach was given his second technical and ejected from the game. The ejection didn't faze the Golden Eagles as they kept up their scoring for the balance of the game. Scoring for the Golden Eagles were Perry, White Owl, Withers, Miller and Minthorn. The Cougars had scoring from Ferge, McCallum and Lauren Elligsen. Nixyaawii led 58-40 at the end of the third period.

Nixyaawii led scoring in the fourth 19-15. The Cougars remained scrappy and didn't give up but they were unable to close in on the Golden Eagles lead. Scoring for the Golden Eagles in the fourth were Courtney Edgmand, Withers, Perry and Miller. Scoring for the Cougars came from Katelyn Elligsen, Taylor Tarvin, Sara Reese and Ferge. Nixyaawii won 77-55.

High scorers for Nixyaawii were Kanisha Perry with 26, C Miller with 22, Suzzette White Owl with 11 and Miriah Withers with 8. Echo scorers were Elizabeth Ferge with 25, Ryanne Tarvin with 8, Taylor Tarvin & Kristen McCallum each with 7.
