HERMISTON - The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs defeated the Pendleton Bucks 59-42 on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Hermiston. Hermiston played the game they liked on Friday. Strong scoring came from Maloree Moss, Courtney Walchli, Kathryn Barnitz, Crystal Schmidt, Andrea Waters and Mary Barnett. Hermiston outscored Pendleton in three quarters.
Pendleton scored first on a three pointer by Jessica Simpson. Hermiston came back with six points by Walchli. Nelly Arroyo nailed at trey for Pendleton to tie the score at 6. After that point Hermiston pulled away and held onto the lead for the rest of the game. Scoring for Hermiston in the rest of the first came from Schmidt and Moss. Hermiston led at the end of the first 20-11.
The Bucks scored 8 points in the first three minutes of the second on shooting by Simpson and Arroyo. All the scoring for the Bucks in the second came from Simpson and Arroyo. Hermiston's scoring in the second came from Moss and Waters. Hermiston's scoring dried up with three minutes to go in the half. Meanwhile the Bucks scored 5 points in the last three minutes of the second period. Pendleton outscored Hermiston 13-9 but Hermiston stilled led at the half, 29-24.
Hermiston increased their scoring in the third period outscoring the Bucks 15-8. Dawgs spread the scoring around in the period with points coming from Walchli, Schmidt, Moss, Barnitz and Barnett. Bucks scoring came from Kristen VanCleave, Kelli Demianew and Brittany Gregerson. Hermiston led at the end of the third 44-32.
Hermiston continued to cruise in the fourth outscoring Pendleton 15-10. Barnitz of Hermiston hit back to back treys around the five minute mark. She followed that up with a layup and two freethrows. Bucks scroing in the fourth came from Cecelia Bonifer, VanCleave and Gregerson. Hermiston won 59-42.
