HERMISTON - The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs defeated the Madras White Buffaloes 57-44 on senior night Thursday, February 25, 2010. The White Buffaloes kept up with the Bulldogs until the Dawgs went on a 26 point tear in the third period. Top scorers for Hermiston were Coutney Walchli, Crystal Schmidt and Maloree Moss. Madras scorers were JoElla Smith, Karelen Yallup, Kristi Olney and Klesia Plazola.

Madras controlled most of the first period leading 7-2 three minutes into the first. Hermiston clawed their way back catching up with the Buffaloes on jumper that tied the score at 14 with a second to go in the first.

Scoring slowed to molasses in the second with Hermiston outscoring Madras 8 to 5. Dawgs scoring came from Kayla Blankenship, Gracie Flyg, and Walchli. The Buffaloes scoring in the second were Plazola, Yallup and Smith. Hermiston led at halftime 22-19.

Hermiston took command in the third outscoring Madras 26-9. It seemed like everything fell into the basket for the Dawgs. Dawgs scoring in the third came from Andrea Waters, Kathryn Barnitz, Schmidt and Walchli. Hermiston led by 20, 48-28 at the end of the third.

Madras outscored Hermiston 16-9 in the fouth but the Dawgs monster lead only slipped to dominent. Dawgs scoring in the fourth were Kelli Jones, Barnitz, Schmidt and Flyg. Scoring for the White Buffaloes in the fourth came from Abby Scott, Yallup, Smith, Plazola and Olney. Hermiston won by 13, 57-44.
