UMATILLA - The Mcloughlin Pioneers of Milton-Freewater defeated the Umatilla Vikings in a baseball game on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 by a score of 14-3 in five innings. Umatilla started off the game very well taking a 3-1 lead by the end of the second inning. MacHi then scored two runs in the top of the fourth tie the score at 3-3. Then came the top of the fifth inning. The Pioneers scored 11 runs in the fifth, 10 of them coming after having two outs. Umatilla went through three pitchers in the fifth trying to get the final out. The 11 runs came on grounders, walks, hit by pitches, and long fly balls to the outfield.
A tough loss for the Vikings when things were looking pretty good in the fourth. For the Pioneers a game that at first they didn't give up and then once they started scoring they just kept driving the scores in.
