STANFIELD - The Stanfield Tigers swept the Irrigon Knights 5-4 and 18-3 in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1, 2010. The day was overcast with a wind of at least ten miles per hour.
Game 2
Irrigon's first scoring opportunity came in the top of the first with Dustin Osborne
on second. Osborne broke to steal third and the throw from the catcher went into
left field. Osborne then spun for home and safely scored giving Irrigon the 1-0 lead.
Stanfield led off the bottom of the first with a Devin Bailey walk. Mario Madrigal then hit to left field. With two on and no outs Trey Blevins laid down a bunt and made it safely to first. With the bases loaded Bailey scored on a pass ball to tie it at 1-1. Then came another pass ball that scored Madrigal to give the Tigers the 2-1 lead. Quinto Grogan walked so that the Tigers now had two on. Another pass ball scored Blevins making the score 3-1. Trevor Morris then hit to center field driving in Grogan to give Stanfield the 4-1 lead at the end of the first.
The next scoring came in the bottom of the third. Quiton Grogan, the lead off batter, hit deep to center field. Grogan worked his away around to third base. Trevor Morris then hit a roller down the third base line scoring Grogan and making the score 5-1. Morris worked his way around the bases to third. He then scored on a pass ball to give Stanfield the 6-1 lead.
Stanfield went on a tear in the bottom of the fourth scoring 12 runs. Stanfield had the bases loaded with the first three batters. Trey Blevins the fourth batter came up an hit to left field scoring Raul Mendola. Quinton Grogan then hit to right field scoring Devin Bailey. Derek Monkus then hit to right field scoring Mario Madrigal and Blevins. Trevor Morris walked to reload the bases. Brandon Castro then hit to center field scored Grogan and Monkus. Shaun Milbrodt then hit to center field scoring Morris. Stanfield now led 13-1 with no outs. Stanfield's next batter, Mendola, the inning's lead off batter, became the first out with with fly out. That out didn't slow down Stanfield's next batter, Bailey, hit a grounder to third scoring Castro. Madrigal then hit to center field scoring Milbrodt. Blevins was hit by a pitch loading the bases again. Then Bailey and Madrigal scored on separate pass balls. Grogan drove a grounder down the third base line scoring Blevins and giving Stanfield the 18-1 lead. Stanfield was able to put two more runners on base but came up with two groundouts to end the inning.
Irrigon's Eleasar Vera hit a triple with one out in the top of the fifth inning. With two out 4Ricky Amburgy then then hit to center field driving in Vera. Steven Wine and Dustin Osborne both walked to load the bases. Then Jesus Munoz walked forcing in Amburgy. A ground out finished the inning and the game. Stanfield won 18-3 in five innings under the ten run rule.
