HERMISTON - The Hermiston Bulldogs hosted the Sisters Outlaws in the last regular season home game in lacrosse on Sunday, May 2, 2010. The Dawgs won the match 7-6 in overtime. Sunday was sunny but like the last several weeks the wind was blowing at least 10 miles per hour with gusts to about 20.
The Sisters Outlaws went on the scoreboard first in the opening period. Their first score came with 7:27 to go. The second Sisters score came at the 2:30 mark of the first. Sisters led at the end of the first by a score of 2-0.
Hermiston came out on the offensive in the second period scoring three goals over a three minute span. Kolton Bodigheimer scored twice in that run. First he scored at the 11:31 mark and again at 9:44. Both teams tightened up their defensive play for the balance of the half. Hermiston led at halftime 3-2.
Sisters scored two goals in thirty seconds in the third period. The first goal came at 8:35 tieing the score at 3-3. The next goal came at 8:14 giving the Outlaws the 4-3 lead. Hermiston then closed the gap with a goal by Calvin Peterson at 3:31 to tie the score at 4-4.
Kolten Bodigheimer of Hermiston scored two goals in the opening minutes of the fourth period giving the Dawgs the 6-4 lead. Sisters battled back in the last three minutes scoring twice to tie the score. The first Outlaw goal came at 2:38 followed with the tieing goal with 30 seconds to go in the match. The score was tied 6-6 at the end of regulation.
Calvin Peterson scored the winning goal for Hermiston at the 3:08 mark of overtime giving the Dawgs the 7-6 sudden death win.
