STANFIELD - The 6:00 p.m. match at Stanfield was between the Tiger JVs versus the Irrigon Knights JVs. Stanfield won the closely contested match 25-23, 22-25 and 17-15.
The first set was closely contested with the teams tieing or exchanging the lead seven times. Stanfield had aces from Laura Herrera and Megan Bailey. Irrigon aces came from Nathalie Campos, Ana Carmona, Alicia Martin and Jacquie Lee. With the score tied 21-21 Stanfield put together some nice rallies to take the 25-23 win.
Irrigon came from behind to win the second set. Stanfield took the early lead 6-0. Later in the set Stanfield led 20-10. Irrigon battled back close in with a 22-14 score. Alicia Martin then had a nice long run of serve including three aces and four long rallies by her teammates along with a couple of other scores to win the set 25-22.
JV matches are best of three so with the sets tied at 1-1 the third set is played in a first to 15 with a two point lead format. Stanfield came out fast taking a 5-0 lead. Irrigon battled back tieing it at 7-7. The teams then exchanged the lead all the way to the end of the match. At eleven all Nathalie Campos had a nice run of serve nailing four aces in a row to give Irrigon the 14-11 lead. Stanfield battled back to tie it at 15-15 and take the serve. Megan Bailey serves the 17-15 win for Stanfield.
