HERMISTON - The Hermiston lady Bulldogs defeated The Dalles Wahtonka Eagle Indians 66-50 on Thursday, January 13, 2011. The game was delayed from Tuesday due to a winter storm that swept throught the gorge.
The game started off with the teams exchanging the lead all the way through 3:54. At that point Hermiston began to pull away. The Bulldogs took an 18-11 lead at the end of the first period. Top scorers for the Bulldogs in the first were Courtney Walchli and Heidi Walchli each with 8 points. Maloree Moss had two points.
Scoring slowed for both teams in the second period with Hermiston scoring 13 and TDW 7. Hermiston led at halftime 31-18. Scoring for Hermiston in the second were Saraya Wise with five including a three pointer. Courtney Walchli, Jeni Hoffert and Andrea Waters each scored two points.
The pace of scoring picked up in the third period. Hermiston outscored TDW 17-14 while stretching the lead out to 14 points. Scoring for Hermiston came from Jeni Hoffert with 5, Heidi Walchli with 4, Gracie Flyg with 3 and Maloree Moss with 2. Hermiston led at the end of three 48-32.
Hermiston continued to maintain the lead even though both teams scored 18 points in the fourth period. Scoring for the Dawgs in the fourth were Courtney Walchli with 5, Heidi Walchli with 4, Kirsten Shockman with 3 and three players with two each. Hermiston won 66-50.
