HERMISTON - The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs defeated Sandy Pioneers 72 to 28 on Friday, February 25, 2011. The game was a play in game to go to the playoff game on Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Sandy scored first but it was only three minutes later that Hermiston led 9-6 and pulling away to what would be a dominating 18 point lead. Scoring for Hermiston in the first were Courtney Walchli, Maloree Moss, Gracie Flyg, Andrea Waters and Jeni Hoffert. Walchli, Moss and Waters each hit a three pointer in the last two and a half minutes. Scoring for Sandy in the first were Mckenzie Warren, Tammy Joseph and Danica Lewis. Hermiston led at the end of the first 26-8.

Hermiston had another strong scoring run in the second period outscoring Sandy 19-8. Scoring for Hermiston in the second period were Courtney Walchli, Jeni Hoffert, Callahan Crossley, Saraya Wise, Maloree Moss and Gracie Flyg. Three pointers by Saraya Wise and Maloree Moss helped extend Hermiston's lead. Sandy had scoring by Tammy Joseph, Chelesea Green and Mckenzie Warren. Hermiston led 45 to 16 at halftime.

Hermiston dominated play in the third period outscoring Sandy 20 to 4. Nine of those Hermiston points came on three pointers by Kirsten Shockman and Saraya Wise. Other scoring for the Bulldogs came from Jeni Hoffert, Courtney Walchli, Courtney Walchli and Gracie Flyg. Sandy's scoring in the third came from Tammy Joseph. Hermiston led at the end of the third 65 to 20.

Sandy outscored Hermiston 8-7 in the fourth period but is was barely a dent in Hermiston's dominating 45 point lead at the start of the period. The Dawgs scoring came from Haley Foley and Kirsten Shockman. In fact Foley was responsible for six of Hermiston's eight points. Sandy had scoring in the fourth from Danica Lewis and Tammy Joseph. Hermiston basically cruised through the fourth to their 72-28 win. The win means they are scheduled to host the South Albany Rebels on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in a state 5A playoff game.
