UMATILLA - The Nyssa Bulldogs defeated the Umatilla Vikings 3-0 by set scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-16. Nyssa swept through Riverside and Umatilla on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Umatilla put on a good fight in the evening match but couldn't win a set.

Umatilla started off the first set scoring the first four points. Nyssa came back to tie it up. The teams then alternated the lead until Carly Bullock had a nice run of serve to give the Bulldogs the 17-14 lead. Umatilla closed in on the Bulldogs late in the set tieing it up at 23 all. Cami Heninger then served out the set for Nyssa. The Bulldogs won the first set 25-23.

The second set was very competitive as the two teams tied or exchanged the lead ten times. It was anybody's set late with the teams tied 25-25. Sarah Martinez of Nyssa then served out the set to take the 27-25 win.

The third set started off very competitively with the teams tied 10-10 nearing the midway point. Nyssa's Cami Heninger then went on a tear serving a run of nine points including service three winners. Nyssa led at that point 18-10. Umatilla couldn't close the gap as the Bulldogs cruised to a 25-16 third set win.
