Hermiston Defeated Eisenhower of Yakima

HERMISTON - The Hermiston Bulldogs defeated the Eisenhower Cadets of Yakima 85-20 on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Hermiston's defense was able to keep Eisenhower from even across the midcourt line several times during the game.

Hermiston controlled the game from the opening tip leading 4-0 in the first 30 seconds of the first period. Eisenhower then cut the Dawgs lead to 4-2. Hermiston then went on a 10 point run to take a 14-2 lead with 3:46 to go in the first. then Kaitlin Elmo of Eisenhower hit a freethrow at the 3:30 point. Hermiston then went on a 14 run during the rest of the first period. Scoring for the Dawgs in the first period were Andrea Waters, Jeni Hoffert, Heidi Walchli, Maloree Moss and Cheyanne lawson. Hermiston led at the end of the first 28-2.

Hermiston outscored Eisenhower 16-11 in the second period. Eisenhower was able to get their offense going with scoring from Elizabeth Armenta, Devin Guerra-Burnett and Kaitlin Elmo. Scoring for Hermiston were Jeni Hoffert, Heidi Walchli and McKenzie Byrd. Hermiston led 44-11 at halftime.

Hermiston scored 22 points in the third period while holding Eisenhower to just three points. The Bulldogs were leading by 49 points by the end of the third. Scoring for the Dawgs in the third were Gracie Flyg, Maloree Moss, Callahan Crossley, Cheyanne Lawson and McKenzie Byrd. Eisenhower scoring came from Destiny Sanford and Brandi Terrazas. Hermiston led at the end of the third, 66-17.

Hermiston continued to dominate the game in the fourth period. The Dawgs outscored the Cadets 19-3 in the fourth. Scoring for Hermiston were Cheyanne Lawson, Sarah Hawman, Jeni Hoffert, Heidi Walchli and Haley Foley. It was a big period for treys with Cheyanne Lawson hitting two of the them, Jeni Hoffert and Hailey Foley. Hermiston won 85-20.
