ECHO - The Irrigon Lady Knights defeated the Echo Cougars for the second time in less than a week by a score of 45-37. Echo out shot Irrigon by .1%, 23.1% by 23.0%. Echo also out shot Irrigon in three pointers, having hit one. The difference was Irrigon's success at the freethrow line where the Knights were 11 of 23 for 47.8% to Echo's 8 of 18 for 33.3%. Top scorer overall was Madisyn Cadek of Irrigon with 13 points followed by Andrea Gasparova with 10 points. Top scorer of Echo was Kirsten McCallum with 12 points followed by Evangalyn Marcum with 8 points.
The opening minutes of the first period were tight with the teams exchanging the lead. Then half way through the period Hayden Tarvin of Echo hit a trey that gave Echo the 9-5 lead. Echo held Irrigon to five points for over three minutes. Then Andrea Gasparova of Irrigon broke the ice and the Knights started scoring again. Scoring for the Knights in the first period wereCheyanne Hackett, Andriana Sanchez, Andrea Gasparova, Gabriela Villareal, and Nathalie Campos. Echo scoring came from Kirsten McCallum, Hayden Tarvin and Evangalyn Marcum. Echo led at the end of the first 15-11.
Irrigon picked up the scoring in the second period outscoring Echo 10-6. Scoring for Irrigon in the second period were Madisyn Cadek, Adriana Sanchez and Andrea Gasparova. Echo players scoring in the second period included Kirsten McCallum, Elizabeth McCarty and Lesley Ibara. The score was tied 21-21 at halftime.
Echo outscored Irrigon 8-7 in the third period. Scoring for Irrigon were Madisyn Cadek, Celina Munoz and Cheyanne Hacket. Echo's scoring came from Kirsten McCallum, Evangalyn Marcum, Hayden Tarvin and Elizabeth McCarty. Echo led at the end of the third 29-28.
Irrigon went on a run in the fourth period outscoring Echo 17-8. Irrigon's scoring came from Madisyn Cadek with three points, Celina Munoz with four points and Andrea Gasparova with eight. Echo had scoring from Kately Elligsen, Rachel Round and Elizabeth McCarty. Irrigon won the game 45-37.
