HERMISTON - The Kamiakin Braves defeated the Hermiston Bulldogs 77-56 on Friday, December 9, 3022. It was a cold night with a crowd that only filled the gym halfway. Maybe it was the cold weather that was channeled to the Bulldogs as they fell behind the Braves by up to 26 points in the third period. Kamiakin had nice work on the boards by Zach En'Wezoh and scoring by Alex Quinn and Cooper Clyde.
Kamiakin took control of the game right from the tip off. Hermiston didn't score their first points until four minutes into the game on a trey by Nolan Briscoe with Kamiakin leading 8-3. Even with Jake Flyg hitting two technical freethrows for a player roster infraction by Kamiakin, Hermiston ended up 12 points down at the end of the first period. Kamiakin led 21-9 at theend of the first.
Hermiston outscored Kamiakin 16-15 in the second period but that didn't do much to close the gap. Michael Pederson of Hermiston hit two treys and Alonso Ortiz scored five points as the Bulldogs tried to dig themselves out of the hole they were in. Kamiakin led at halftime 36-25.
Kamiakin shut down Hermiston turned up their fast break style of play to outscore Hermiston 22-9 in the third period. Cooper Clyde scored nine points for Kamiakin. Also scoring for Kamiakin were Justin Pedley and Zach En'Wezoh who had five points. Scoring for Hermiston in the third were Alex Ortiz, Alonso Ortiz and Jake Flyg.
Hermiston turned up the scoring in the fourth barely outscoring Kamiakin 22-19. Kamiakin cruised to the 21 point 77-56 win over Hermiston. Alonso Ortiz hit four treys for Hermiston in the fourth. Also hitting two treys for Hermiston in the fourth was Jake Flyg.
