HERMISTON - The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs defeated the Hood River Valley Eagles by 41 points, 74-33 on Friday, January 6, 2012 in an early season league game. The Bulldogs dominated the game from the opening tip and three pointer by Jeni Hoffert. The Dawgs hit seven treys overall during the game. The Dawgs dominated scoring in every quarter.
Hermiston dominated the first quarter with four three pointers - two by Jeni Hoffert and one each by Maloree Moss and Andrea Waters. Also scoring for the Dawgs in the first were Gracie Flyg and Heidi Walchli. Walchi scored on a steal and layup with a minute to go in the first. HRV had two treys by Katie White and Natalia Ames. Also scoring for the Eagles was Megan Winans. Hermiston led 14 points, 26-12 at the end of the first.
The scoring slowed for both teams in the second quarter with Hermiston outscoring HRV 9-5 stretching the lead to 20 points. Hermiston's scoring came from Marissa Crowe, Cheyanne Lawson, Maloree Moss and Callahan Crossley. The Dawgs led by 20, 37-17 at halftime.
Hermiston scored 22 points in the third compared to the Eagles six. Hermiston's scoring came from Jeni Hoffert, Maloree Moss, Callahan Crossley and Marissa Crowe. Hermiston led by 36 at the end of the third with the score 59-23.
Hermiston led scoring in the fourth 15-10 and stretched their lead to 41 points. Bulldogs scoring in the fourth included Haley Foley, Tavin Headings, Andrea Waters, Maloree Moss, Marissa Crowe and McKenzie Byrd. It was a strong showing for the Bulldogs as they better than doubled the Eagles to win 74-33.
