IRRIGON - The Irrigon Knights defeated the Union Bobcats 90-50 on Saturday, January 14, 2012. It was another good, well played game for the Knights. The Knights worked together on strong defense and fast paced offense. The Irrigon players played with intesity and high energy. Irrigon led at halftime by a score that would have been final scores in other games.
The game was close for the first two minutes with the teams tied 2-2. From that point on Irrigon led the rest of the game. Scoring for Irrigon in the first were Leon Luna, Anthony Landeros, Francisco Nunez, Ernesto Aguilera, Adrian Romero and Jose Romero. Francisco Nunez hit back to back treys on his way to scoring 11 in the first quarter. Irrigon led at the end of the first quarter 28-13.
Irrigon Knights had a very good second quarter scoring 33 points compared to Union's 10. Big scorers for the Knights were Jose Romero with eight and Anthony Landeros with seven. Other Irrigon players scoring included Francisco Nunez, Ernesto Aguilera and Adrian Romero. Irrigon led by 38 points at halftime, 61-23.
Scoring slowed slightly in the third quarter with Irrigon outscoring Union 16-8. Scoring for Irrigon in the third were Francisco Nunez, Adrian Romero, Jose Romero and Anthony Landeros. Irrigon led Union by 46 points at the end of the third quarter, 77-31.
Union outscored Irrigon 19-13 in the fourth quarter as Irrigon rotated more bench players into the game. Scoring for Union in the fourth were Ty Coon, Kody Fouts and JD Graves. Knights scoring in the fourth included Francisco Nunez, Sean Barron, Leon Luna, Zach Rice and Osvaldo Macias. Irrigon won the game 90-50.
