STANFIELD - The Stanfield Tigers defeated the Elgin Huskies 61-47 on Friday, January 27, 2012. The game started out close then Stanfield outscored Elgin 30-16 in the second and third quarters to take a strong lead.
Elgin scored first on a freethrow and went to a 5-0 lead. Devin Bailey of Stanfield then hit a freethrow to start the scoring for the Tigers. Moments later the teams were tied at 5-5. That was the first of eight ties or exchanges of the lead in the quarter. Scoring for Tigers in the first were Dino Ibarra, Bryce Linker, Devin Haefer and Koty Kamm. The teams ended up tied 14-14 at the end of the first.
Stanfield took control of the game in the second quarter out scoring Elgin 19-8. Stanfield scored first in the second when Koty Kamm hit two freethrows to give the Tigers the 16-14 lead. The Tigers held the lead from that point on. Devin Bailey had a very good quarter scoring at least 10 points. Stanfield led 33-22 at halftime.
Things were a little closer in the third but Stanfield still outscored Elgin 11-8. Scoring for the Tigers were Devin Bailey, Bryace Linker, Dino Ibarra and Saul Esquivel. Stanfield led at the end of the third by 14, 44-30.
The teams both scored 17 points in the fourth quarter but that didn't cut into Stanfield's 14 point lead. Tigers scoring in the fourth included Koty Kamm, Devin Bailey, Eddy Ramos, Bryce Linker and Ulises Ibarra. Stanfield won 61-47.
