The Echo Lady Cougars defeated the Helix Grizzlies 58-34 on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
The Cougars leading scorers were Katelyn Elligsen with 20, Evanglyn Marcum scored 12, Bailey
Srofe and Chantell Souza each had seven points. Leading scorer for Helix was Sydney Cave with
12 followed by Kristen Williams with 10 and Brittany Isles with five. Echo hit 33.3% of their
shots overall compared to 31.7% for Helix. Helix hit more treys 33.3%% to 28.6% for Echo.
Echo took control of the game when they took the 4-2 lead at 6:10 of the first quarter.
Echo players scoring in the first quarter were Rachel Round, Katelyn Elligsen, Evangalyn Marcum,
Elizabeth McCarty and Chantell Souza. Helix was only able to score once more in the first.
Echo led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Helix got back into the game in the second quarter scoring 12 points. The Cougars also
scored 12 points maintaining Echo's dominating lead from the first quarter. Cougars
scoring in the second quarter were Katelyn Elligsen, Rachel Round, Hayden Tarvin,
Lesley Ibarra and Bailey Srofe. Echo led at halftime 28-16.
Echo continued to motor in the third quarter scoring 15 points and Helix went cold only scoring
four points. Cougars scoring in the third were Elizabeth McCarty, Evangalyn Marcum and Katelyn
Elligsen. Echo led by 23 points at the end of the third quarter 43-20.
Echo outscored Helix 15-14 in the fourth quarter. Cougars who scored in the fourth included
Bailey Srofe, Katelyn Elligsen, Lesley Ibarra and Chantell Souza. Echo had a good game winning
by 24 points, 58-34.
