HERMISTON- The Sherman County Huskies defeated the Echo Cougars 66-51 in round two of the Big Sky Conference Tournament on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Hermiston, Oregon. It was a close game through the first three quarters with the Huskies leading by seven at the end of the third quarter. Echo just out shot the Huskies in the first half 53.8% to 53.3%. Things switched in the second half with Sherman County shooting 47.8% to 42.9%. Overall Sherman County hit 50.9% to 48.9%. Sherman County controlled the free throw line 63.6% to 50%.

Top scorer overall was Kyle Burnett of Sherman County with 18 points. Echo's top scorer was Dylan Enright with 17 points. Scoring for Sherman County were Zach Smith with 13, Scot Stoud with 12, Nick Coleman with 11, Riley Brown with 10 and Brian Simantel with 2. Cougars scoring were CJ Flores with 10, Jeramy Cisneros with 9, Esau Ibarra with 8 and Treve Moffit with 7.

It was a high scoring closely contested first quarter with the teams tied or exchanging the lead 11 times. Sherman County's Nick Coleman opened the scoring following the tip off. The teams then went back and forth scoring until Sherman took the lead at 15-14 with three minutes to go in the quarter. Scoring for Sherman County in the first were Scot Stoud, Riley Brown hit back to back treys and Kyle Burnett. Echo players scoring in the first were Dylan Enright, Jeramy Cisneros, Esau Ibarra and Treve Moffit. Sherman County led 23-19 at the end of the first quarter.

Sherman County out scored Echo 14-11 in the second quarter stretching their lead to seven points. Echo out scored Sherman County 7-2 in the first two and half minutes of the second quarter taking the lead only to have Sherman County then go on a ten point run while Echo was stuck scoreless for almost three minutes. Scoring Sherman County in the second quarter were Jach Smith, Kyle Burnett and Nick Coleman. Cougars scoring in the second quarter included Dsau Ibarra, CJ Flores and Jeramy Cisneros. It was an exciting quarter with Echo closing gap when the Huskies shooting cooled off then Echo cooled off. When the halftime buzzer sounded Sherman County led by seven, 37-30.

Each team scored 14 points in the third quarter allowing Sherman County to maintain a seven point lead. Sherman County players scoring in the third were Kyle Burnett, Zach Smith and Brian Simantel. Cougars scoring in the third quarter were Treve Moffit, Dylan Enright and CJ Flores. Sherman County led at the end of the third quarter 51-44.

Sherman County out scored Echo 15-7 in the fourth quarter to take the win by 15 points. Scoring for the Huskies in the fourth were Zach Smith, Nick Coleman and Scot Stoud. Cougars scoring in the fourth were Jeramy Cisneros, CJ Flores and Dylan Enright. Sherman County won 66-51.
