PENDLETON- The Weston McEwen Tiger Scots defeated the Stanfield Tigers by three, 52-49 in the championship game of the Blue Mountain Conference tournament on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in Pendleton. In a way it like a repeat of the Pilot Rock vs Irrigon game that had been played earlier in the evening. It was a back and forth game with the teams tied at the end of the first, Stanfield leading by 10 at halftime and by six at the end of the third. Stanfield led by one with a minute to go but WM controlled the last minute to maintain their three point lead.
The first quarter was an evenly played one with the teams tied or exchanging the lead five times. WM started off the scoring with back to back shots by Ron Terjeson to take a 4-0 lead. Stanfield's Eddy Ramos hit a trey and Koty Kamm hit a jumper to give Stanfield the 5-4 lead. The teams then alternated the lead until Ramos hit a shot with 30 seconds on the clock to tie it at 11. Bryce Linker also scored for Stanfield in the first. Other scoring for WM came from Riley Sederburg, Dallas Reich and Jacob Ramirez.
Stanfield dominated play in the second quarter when they went on a 20 to 10 scoring run. Scoring for Stanfield in the second were Eddy Ramos, Dino Ibarra, Devin Bailey, Devin Haefer and Bryce Linker. WM scoring came from Dallas Reich, Elliot Salter and ron Terjeson. Stanfield led at halftime 31-21.
WM out scored Stanfield 13-9 in the third quarter but the Tigers of Stanfield still led the game. Scoring for WM were Riley Sederburg, Dallas Reich, Ron Terjeson and Elliot Salter. STanfield players scoring in the third were Koty Kamm, Devin Bailey, Bryce Linker and Ulises Ibarra. Stanfield still led by six, 40-34 at the end of the third quarter.
WM once again out scored Stanfield in the fourth quarter 18-9. The Tiger Scots took the 48-47 lead with 1:37 to go in the game. Scoring for Stanfield in the fourth were Devin Haefer, Devin Bailey, Koty Kamm and Dino Ibarra. WM players scoring in the fourth were Riley Sederburg, Elliot Salter, Ron Terjeson and Zane Chapman. WM controlled the ball in the last minute to hold on to a three point lead sealed by Dallas Reich hitting two free throws.
