IRRIGON -
The Irrigon Knights defeated the Stanfield Tigers 68-47 on Friday, February 1, 2013.
The first quarter was fairly close. Irrigon had the hot shooting in the second quarter
outscoring Stanfield 24-5. The teams tightened up their scoring in the third quarter
but Irrigon maintained a strong 25 point lead at the end of the third. Stanfield outscored
Irrigon in the fourth but all it did was chip away slightly at the Knights lead.
Irrigon players scoring in the first quarter included Ernesto Aguilera, Francisco Nunez,
Anthony Landeros, Adrian Romero and Fredy Vera. Tigers scoring in the first inclued Michael
Martinez, Michael Gehrke and Milan Davchevski. Irrigon led at the end of the first quarter
15-12.
The second quarter was a high scoring one for Irrigon with the team making 24 points
to take a dominent lead. Knights scoring in the second included Ernesto Aguilera, Anthony
Landeros who appeard to score 17 points including a trey and two steals that led to lay ups,
Fredy Vera and Francisco Nunez. Tigers scoring in the second including Devin Haefer and
Michael Martinez. Irrigon led 39-17 at the halftime buzzer.
The teams played a pretty even third quarter with Irrigon making 17 points to Stanfield's
14. However Irrigon's 22 point lead at halftime meant that Stanfield only chipped away at the
Knights lead. Knights scoring in the third were Jose Romero, Anthony Landeros, Ernesto
Aguilera and Eric Vera. Tigers scoring in the third included Devin Haefer who hit back to
back treys and Milan Davchevski. Irrigon led 56-31 at the end of the third quarter.
Stanfield outscored Irrigon in the fourth quarter 16-12 but Irrigon was in control of the
game. Scoring for Stanfield in the fourth were Michael Martinez, Ulises Ibarra, Adrian Angel
hit back to back treys and Izac Gonzalez. Knights scoring in the fourth included Ernesto
Aguilera, Fredy Vera and Leon Luna. Irrigon won 68-47.
