STANFIELD - The Stanfield Tigers defeated the Knappa Loggers 7-6 on Friday, March 29, 2013. It was a nice warm day with the temperature around 65 degrees.
Picking up action with Stanfield leading 4-3 in the in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tigers was able to get a runner on base with two outs. A long fly out to left field left the runner on first.
The Loggers scored next in the top of the seventh inning. The Loggers' lead off batter hit a hopper to left field for a base hit. Next came a successful bunt that put two runners on base. The third batter flew out to right field. The next batter hit to deep right field driving in two runs to give Knappa the 5-4 lead. A wild pitch allowed the next runner to score giving the Loggers the 6-4 lead. Two flyouts to short finnished the top half of the inning for Knappa.
Stanfield led off with two walks then the next batter was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Tigers' firstbaseman Michael Martinez then hit to deep rigth field scoring two runners but the trailing baserunner was tagged out at third base. Next came an intentioal walk pushing Martinez to second. The next batter struck out. The next Tiger batter hit to center field allowing Martinez to score the winning run from second base. Stanfield won 7-6.
