Stanfield - The Stanfield Tigers defeated the Union Bobcats 74-26 in their homecoming game on Friday, September 27, 2013. The win took the 2A Tigers to 4-0 record this season. The evening started out with a drizzle that faded before halftime and a temperature around 60 degrees.
Picking up action with about five minutes to go in the second quarter and Stanfield leading 32-12. The Union Bobcats were on the Tigers' 37 yardline with a 2nd & 11. A big run by Ty Coon was flagged due to a Stanfield personal foul. The ball ended up just inside the 10 yard line with a 1st & goal. Ty Coon then ran it in for a touchdown. Ty Coon then scored the two point conversion cutting the Tigers' lead to 32-20.
Stanfield then put together a two play drive with a pass to Thyler Monkus who ran it in 25 yards for a touchdown. The two point conversion was good giving Stanfield the 40-20 lead.
The next scoring drive for Stanfield began with around 50 seconds to go in the first half when the received a Bobcat punt. Bryce Linker of Stanfield to the ball on the 1st and 10 on the 42 yard line on a 37 yard run to the five yard line. Linker then took the ball in for a touchdown. The Tigers were successful with their two point conversion to give Stanfield the 48-20 led with 36 seconds to go in the half.
Union made it to mid field when the halftime buzzer sounded with Stanfield leading 48-20.
The homecoming activities began immediately as the teams left the field. There were five couples - one each representing the freshmen, sophomore and junior class. Then there were two senior couples. Two children were escorted out on to the field and made their way up and down the line of couples until choosing the winning king and queen.
Stanfield took the opening kickoff of the second half with a big return by Thyler Monkus to the Bobcats' one yard line. Bryce Linker then ran it in on 1st and goal for a touchdown. The PAT was missed but Stanfield now led by 34 points, 54-20.
The next scoring drive for Stanfield began with an interception with 8:44 to go in the third quarter. The 11 play drive ended on a 14 yard run by Thyler Monkus for touchdown with 4:28 to go in the third. The PAT was good pushing the Tigers' lead to 41 points, 51-20.
Stanfield next took over the ball with 3:30 to go in the third. Four plays later the Tigers scored on a 10 yard pass to Darren Campana for a touchdown. The PAT was good and Stanfield led 68-20.
Union then put together a seven play drive that spanned the end of the third and beginning of the fourth with the clock running continuously. Union's Brooke Scantling scored on a 23 yard run for a touchdown. The two point conversion was good. Stanfield led 68-26.
Stanfield then took the kick off and drove 66 yards in eight plays for a touchdown. Bryan Bautista then ran it in from the four yard line with 1:25 to go in the game. The two point conversion was no good. Stanfield led 74-26.
Stanfield kicked off but there wasn't enough time left for Union to put together any sort of play. Stanfield won 74-26.
