Weston McEwen Defeated Irrigon Knights In Football

IRRIGON - The Weston McEwen TigerScots defeated the Irrigon Knights 55-20 in football on Friday, October 25, 2013. It was a cool evening with the temperature around 50 degrees at game time.

Weston McEwen led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Irrigon punted to the TigerScots in the first play of the second quarter. Weston McEwen then put together a seven play drive that was capped by a touchdown pass. The PAT was good giving the TigerScots the 35-0 lead with 8:16 to go in the first half.

The next scoring occurred when an Irrigon pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown with seven minutes to go in the first half. Freshman Tylor Fenrenbacker of Weston McEwen picked off the pass and returned it some 50 yards for the touchdown. The PAT was good giving Weston McEwen the 42-0 lead.

The next scoring drive for Weston McEwen began when they recovered a fumble on the Irrigon 42 yard line. The TigerScots scored on three yard run in the fifth play of the drive with four minutes left in the first half. The PAT was good giving the TigerScots the 49-0 lead.

The TigerScots led at the half 49-0.

Irrigon scored first in the second half when they blocked a TigerScot punt and recovering the ball on the Weston McEwen 11 yard line. Fredy Vera ran the ball in on the first and 10 with 1:51 to go in the third quarter. The PAT was no good cutting the Weston McEwen lead to 49-6. The TigerScots led at the end of the third quarter 49-6.

Weston McEwen scored first in the fourth quarter. The TigerScots recovered a fumble on the Knights 4 yard line. Two plays later they scored on a run. The PAT was no good giving Weston McEwen the 55-6 lead with 7:47 to go in the game.

Irrgin then scored on a two play drive. The first play was a pass to Nathan Verley for a big gain. The next pass was to A.J. Timpy for a touchdown. The two point conversion was good to cut the Weston McEwen lead to 55-14.

Irrigon recovered the ensuing onside kick. A quarterback keeper by Eric Vera made a big gain. Irrigon scored on the next play with a 17 yard run. The Knights missed the extra point but cut the Weston McEwen lead to 55-20 with 4:21 to play.

Weston McEwen then put together a clock chewing drive that ended with a punt to Irrigon with about a minute left in the game.

Weston McEwen won the game 55-20.
