Irrigon Lady Knights Defeated South Wasco County in Basketball

IRRIGON - The Irrigon Lady Knights defeated the South Wasco County Redsides 61-34 on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. The gym was at least three quarters full for the double header.

Picking up action with Irrigon leading 33-12 at the start of the third period. Both teams scored 13 points in the third. The Redsides' Joy Kelly scored on a shot then followed up with a freethrow to cut Irrigon's lead to 33-15. Within moments Ashli Roberts went on a roll scoring six points in row with two steals and lay ups followed by a drive to the basket for two points. Roberts' run gave Irrigon the 41-17 lead. Karen Gonzalez then scored on a freethrow. Caitlin Hearn then scored on a follow up then Anna Ayala scored to give Irrigon the 21 point lead, 46-25 at the end of the third period.

Irrigon outscored the Redsides 15-9 in the fourth period. Ashli Roberts started off the fourth scoring on a fast break to give Irrigon the 48-25 lead. Barbara Jonovska then scored on a nice drive to the basket. Roberts' scored on a jumper. Gabriela Villarreal then hit a trey to give Irrigon the 55-29 lead. Closing out scoring in the fourth were Roberts, Kelly McLaughlin working the baseline and scoring on a fast break. When the final buzzer sounded Irrigon won 61-34.
