Pilot Rock Lady Rockets Defeated Irrigon Knights in Basketball

IRRIGON - The Pilot Rock Lady Rockets defeated the Irrigon Knights 58-37 on Valentine's Day Senior Recognition Night of Friday, February 14, 2014. The first half had Pilot Rock take a seven point lead then Irrigon came back in the second period to take the 14-13 lead. Pilot Rock took the lead back and never gave it up even though Irrigon battled hard in the second period.

Picking up action in the first period with six minutes to play and the score tied 4-4. Pilot Rock took the lead on a trey by Caitlin Zyph. Ashli Roberts scored on a drive to the basket late in the period. Pilot Rock led 13-6 at the end of the first period.

Irrigon started the second period hot out scoring Pilot Rock 8-0 in the opening two and a half minutes of play and taking a 14-13 lead. Pilot Rock then turned up the defense and the scoring holding Irrigon to just five points while scoring 19 on the way to halftime. Knights scoring in the second period included Sandra Vera, Gabriela Villarreal, Ashli Roberts, and Kelly McLaughlin. Pilot Rock led 32-19 at halftime.

The teams each scored 11 points in the third period with Irrigon going on a nice 7-0 run over four minutes in the period. Scoring for Irrigon included Sandra Vera, Ashli Roberts, and Barbara Janovska. Pilot Rock led by 13 at the end of the third, 43-30.

Pilot Rock got hot agian in the fourth period out scoring Irrigon 15-7. Rockets scoring in the fourth included Madison Dave, Caitlin Zyph and Britteny Taylor. Knights scoring in the fourth included Beatriz Aguilera, Ashli Roberts, Barbara Janovska and Kelly McLaughlin. Pilot Rock won 58-37.
