HERMISTON - The Irrigon Knights defeated the Stanfield Tigers 52-37 at the Blue Mountain Championship Game on Saturday, February 22, 2014. The gym was packed with crowd that had just watched the double overtime win by Union over Pilot Rock in the ladies' final. The game started off a little slower scoring than these teams usually do with the Tigers leading 5-4 at the midway point of the first period. Then Irrigon exploded with 25 points in the second period to take control of the game. Scoring slowed in the second half with Stanfield out scoring Irrigon 20-19. Irrigon players hit five treys over the course of the game while Stanfield only hit two.

Stanfield scored first at around the seven minute mark of the first period. Irrigon's first score came when Fredy Vera hit a freethrow at the 6:15 mark. Other Knights scoring in the first period included Adrian Romero and Anthony Landeros. Tigers scoring in the first included Milan Davchevski and Joseph Valadez. Stanfield led by two at the end of the first, 10-8.

Irrigon out scored Stanfield 25-7 in the second period. Zach Rice and AJ Timpy both hit treys for the Knights. Other Knights scoring in the second included Nathan Verley, Adrian Romero, Fredy Vera, Ernesto Aguilera and Ryan Reynolds. Irrigon led by 16 points at halftime, 33-17.

The teams each scored 10 points in the third period. Tigers scoring in the third period included Milan Davchevski, Joseph Valadez, Ryan Bailey and Dylan Grogan. Knights scoring in the third period included Ernesto Aguilera, Anthony Landeros, Fredy Vera and Zach Rice. Irrigon led by 16, 43-27 at the end of the third.

The Stanfield Tigers out scored Irrigon 10-9 in the fourth period. Tigers scoring in the fourth quarter included Milan Davchevski, Bryce Linker, Hunter braithwaite and Dylan Grogan. Irrigon Knights scoring in the fourth period included Zach Rice, Fredy Vera and Anthony Landeros. Irrigon won by 15 points, 52-37.
