STANFIELD - The Culver Lady Bulldogs defeated the Stanfield Tigers in volleyball with a straight three set win by scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-8 on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Culver has a very strong team this year. They are currently 16-3 with the win over Stanfield. The Bulldogs haven't lost a game since September 8 when they lost to Madras at a jamboree. 4A Madras is also a strong team with a current record of 13-4.
Culver controlled the first set going taking a 11-2 very quickly. Six of those points came during the serve of the Bulldogs libero Emma Hoke. Stanfield was able to force side outs from that point on but when Culver was serving they would go on a run of serve. Culver won the first set 25-9.
The second set was very similar to the first even to the point the point that Culver led 11-2 in the first half of the set. Unlike the first set Stanfield had a nice of serve of by Brittin Braithwaite that cut the Bulldogs lead to 11-6. The Bulldogs brought a lot of power to the net with crushing kills and strong serves. Culver won the second set 25-10.
Culver was running like an Indy race car in the third set hitting three kills and four aces on their way to a 16-3 lead. Stanfield did have nice plays like a big kill by Larissa Castellanos but they were simply over powered by the domination of Culver. Culver won the third set 25-8.
