Adrian Lady Antelopes Defeated Echo Cougars In Basketball

ECHO - The Adrian Lady Antelopes defeated the Echo Cougars 60-39 on Saturday February 28, 2015. It was a spring like day - sunny and 60 degrees for the OSAA 1A play in game at Echo, Oregon.

The first quarter was kind of standard opening minutes give and take but by the 4:00 minute mark Adrian had opened an 8-3 lead. Cougars scoring in the first quarter included Elizabeth McCarty, Hannah McCarty and Kelsey Ranger. Adrian led at the first quarter 12-5.

The second quarter was like two different games. In the first three minutes Echo closed to within four, 16-12. The Adrian tightened their defense and went on a scoring binge scoring 21 points while Echo went cold. Adrian ended up out scoring Echo 26-7 in the quarter. Cougars scoring early in the quarter included Elizabeth McCarty, Devyn Tarvin and Erika Parks. In the last three minutes of the quarter Adrian scored 14 points to take a 38-12 half time lead.

Echo bounced back in the third quarter out scoring Adrian 11-9 but the Antelopes had a commanding 26 point lead that made the task difficult. Echo did break the drought at 7:16 scoring on a lay up by Elizabeth McCarty who went on to score 10 points in the quarter. Kelsey Ranger also scored on a free throw for the Cougars in the third quarter. The game became more physical with a lot pressure on defensive play by both teams. Adrian led 47-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Echo again out scored Adrian in the fourth quarter 16-13 but that just chipped away at the lead the Antelopes had built up. Cougars scoring in the fourth quarter included Elizabeth McCarty with 12 points, Erika Parks and Devyn Tarvin. Adrian won 60-39.
