The 12-6 Weston McEwen TigerScots defeated the 4-5 Stanfield Tigers in three sets
25-19, 25-19 and 25-17 on Thursday September 24, 2015.
Weston McEwen took a quick 5-0 lead in the first minutes of the first set. Stanfield
closed to 6-4 then again to 11-8. Stanfield battled at the net and had some nice kills
but the TigerScots had a height advantage that served them well in the match. TigerScots
took the first set 25-19.
The second set was a battle as the teams battled back and forth with nobody having a
run of serve longer than than two until they reached 13-13. The teams had 13 ties or
exchanges of the lead to that point. Once Weston McEwen took the 14-13 lead they held
on to it. Then the TigerScots went on a six point run to take the 19-13 lead. Stanfield
picked up four side outs and some scores but couldn't close the gap. Weston McEwen won
the second set 25-19.
Weston McEwen took control of the third set once they took the 3-2 lead. They had a
nice run of serve to take a 7-2 lead then cruised through the rest of the set to win it
by eight points 25-17.
